Frederiksberg ( dat. Frederiksberg Slot ) - a palace located in Frederiksberg , on the Danish island of Zealand .
History
Frederiksberg Palace is built in the Italian Baroque style on the top of Valby Hill ( dated Valby Bakke ). The palace was built in 1699-1703. architect Ernst Brandenburger for King Frederick IV.
Still being Crown Prince Frederick IV in 1692-1693. visited Italy and was very impressed with Italian architecture. He personally drew the first outline of the appearance of the palace. Work began in 1699 a few months before the death of Christian V and the accession of Frederick IV to the throne.
In 1708-1709 the palace was expanded by the architect Johan Conrad Ernst. An additional floor was erected with a large ballroom and a church was added. During the reign of Christian VI, the architect Lauritz de Thurach continued construction in 1732-1738. Christian VI used this castle as a summer residence in 1731-1740, while the construction of Christiansborg Castle lasted.
Frederiksberg Palace acquired its modern look after a small restructuring in 1828-1829. during the time of Frederick VI. His widow, Mary, was the last member of the royal family to reside in this palace.
From 1868 to the present day, the Danish Royal Military Academy is based in the palace building.

A park with lakes, canals and diverse flora adjoins the palace on both sides.
