According to the scheme of oil and gas geological zoning of A. A. Bakirov, two oil and gas provinces are located on the territory of Turkmenistan . To date, more than 220 oil , gas , oil and gas and condensate fields have been discovered in the identified provinces.
Turkmenistan's Oil and Gas Basin Division
Turkmenistan is divided into 2 oil and gas provinces and regions:
- Turan - the eastern and central part of Turkmenistan is confined to the platform type of the Mesozoic cover and the Paleozoic basement.
- Amu Darya
- Bukhara-Khiva
- Murgabsky
- Karabil-Badkhiz
- Karakum
- Amu Darya
- South Caspian - the western part of Turkmenistan is confined to the platform type of the Cenozoic-Mesozoic cover and the Paleozoic basement.
- West Turkmen
