The Marne-Sona Canal, connecting the basins of the Seine and Rhone through the Marne and Sona , [2] was built in 1880-1907. Length - 224 km with 114 locks in the departments of Cote d'Or , Marne and Upper Marne . The highest height of the lock is 5.23 m, the average is 3.45 m.
The highest point on the canal is 345 m above sea level , the lowest - 104 m (at the confluence with the Marne at Vitry-le-Francois ).
The largest ports on the canal are Vitry-le-Francois , Joinville , Chaumont , Langres .
