Located on the left bank of the Kuta River (tributary of the Lena ), 615 km from Irkutsk and 53 km from Ust-Kut . Included in the Rucheysky rural settlement .

Physico-geographical characteristics

Geographical position

Kaimonovo is located in the north of the Irkutsk region in the western part of the Ust-Kut district on the left bank of the Kuta River at the confluence of the Kupa River. Some of the buildings and farms are located on the banks of the Kupa. The left tributary of the Kupa, the Kaimonok stream, is named after the village.

  • to the city of Ust-Kut (the center of the district) by road and rail - 70 km, by air - 53 km.

Climate

The climate of the village is sharply continental . The average temperature of January is −25 ° C, July + 17 ° C. The minimum temperature is −58 ° C, the maximum (in the shade) + 42 ° C.

The annual rainfall is 350 mm. In winter - in the form of snow. In the off-season (spring and autumn, as well as at the beginning and end of summer) hail is not uncommon.

The territory of the village is equated to the regions of the Far North .

Relief and geological structure

The village is located on the territory of the Lena-Angarsk plateau, the relief is very dissected, the absolute heights of the area reach 700-800 m above sea level. In the immediate vicinity of the village is Mount Sokoly (625 m above sea level).

Soil cover

Soils are mainly sod-carbonate, sod-podzolic. Meadow and floodplain soils of medium and light loamy texture.

The date of foundation of the village is 1699, when the settlement was first mentioned in the documents of Ilimsk . The founder of the village is Mitka Kayamonov (Kaimonov).

In 1723, there were 2 yards in the village.

The population of Kaimonov was peasant , engaged in plowing land, but there were government duties, primarily related to the maintenance of communications.

In the XVI - XVII centuries, the Caimonians performed the service of serving the Lena Volok . So, in October 1746, a similar order came to the Ust-Kutsk clerk from Ilimsk :

 Bearing the news ... through the Lensky portage the forest is inundated. Tell them to dress plowed peasants to clean the mentioned road through the Kaimonovsky ditch to the Mutsk raid

To which the clerk reported:

 A fiftieth number of five fathoms wide was cleared, and four fathoms in the right and cramped places. And the distance from Kuta the river was cleaned into the ridge by 10 miles and done by miles. [36 peasants were sent to this.]

During the civil war, the residents of Kaimonov took part in the battles for Ust-Kut . October 26, 1919 in Ust-Kut, the White Guards shot several Caimonians who joined the partisan detachment of V.P. Ostashenko. And in February 1920, the White Guard detachments of General Galkin and Ataman Kazakov retreated through Kaimonovo to Maksimovo .

During World War II , a section of the Alsib highway passed over Kaimonov. On July 12, 1943, on the way from Kirensk to Krasnoyarsk , 34 km from the village, one of the distant aircraft crashed - the A-20 Boston light bomber with tail number AF 42-53862 [~ 1] . The crew consisted of two people - commander Ivan Zalomin and navigator Ivan Maximov. Their remains are now buried in Ust-Kut . The supposed cause of the crash is forest fires and thunderstorms , the speed at the crash is 6,000 km per hour . [four]

In 1949, a simple power station was equipped in Kaimonov, electricity first appeared.

Title

The village is named after the founder Mitka Kayamonov (Kaimonov) [3] - the original name Kayamonovskaya , later converted to Kaimonov .

The P419 Tulun – Bratsk – Ust-Kut highway (the Vilyuy federal highway being designed) passes right through the village.

Interesting Facts

  • In 2006 , during the preparation of a feature-documentary film about the Decembrists from the series “The Path of Remembrance”, scenes of Kirensk of the 19th century were shot in Kaimonov. Scenes related to the 20th century were shot in the city of Kirensk [7] .
