* The three best circles of Jacques Villeneuve in the third session were canceled as a fine for delaying Giancarlo Fisichella in the second session, as a result of which Villeneuve started from 9th place.
† Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg changed their engines and were fined ten positions on the grid, so they had to start from 19th and 22nd places, respectively.
