Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Atsizol prevents the formation of carboxyhemoglobin due to the effect on the cooperative interaction of hemoglobin subunits , as a result of which the relative affinity of hemoglobin for carbon monoxide decreases, oxygen binding (reduction of the Hill constant) and gas transmission properties of blood are improved. Atsizol reduces the severity of intoxication when carbon monoxide poisoning in terms of the severity of metabolic acidosis, accelerates the elimination of carbon monoxide (CO) from the body. The drug reduces the body's need for oxygen, helps to increase the resistance to hypoxia of the organs most sensitive to oxygen deficiency: brain, myocardium, liver, etc.
Atsizol is a complex organozinc compound and compensates for zinc deficiency in the body.
Pharmacokinetics
The maximum concentration of alzola in the blood is reached 20-30 minutes after intramuscular injection of 1 ml (60 mg) of the drug and stored in the blood plasma for 4-5 hours. The half-life is 1-1.5 hours. It is mainly metabolized by the liver.
Indications for use
Atsizol is used as a prophylactic agent with the threat of poisoning and a therapeutic agent for poisoning of varying severity with carbon monoxide (CO) and other thermo-oxidative degradation products.
For preventive purposes, the drug is administered in a dose of 1 ml intramuscularly 20-30 minutes before entering the smoke zone (gas), with a high risk of inhalation of CO, during the period of work to eliminate the extinguishing of the fires and rescue the victims. The protective effect lasts for 1.5-2 hours. Repeated use of the drug is allowed 1 hour after the first injection. For therapeutic purposes, Acizol is recommended to be used as soon as possible after poisoning, regardless of the severity of the lesion. The drug is administered in a dose of 1 ml intramuscularly immediately after removal of the victim from the fire zone (gassed room). Repeated administration is allowed 1 hour after the first injection.
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to the components of the drug. Other contraindications have been identified.
Dosage and Administration
For prophylactic purposes, 1 ml of Arizola solution is injected intramuscularly with the threat of poisoning 20-30 minutes before the intended exposure to CO and thermal decomposition products. Repeated administration is allowed 1 hour after the first injection of the drug.
As a remedy, Acizol is recommended to be used as soon as possible after the poisoning, regardless of the severity of the lesion. The drug is administered in a dose of 1 ml intramuscularly immediately after removal of the victim from the fire zone (gassed room). Subsequently, Atsizol is administered intramuscularly 1 ml 2-4 times a day.
The maximum daily dose for an adult is 240 mg (4 ml).
The course of treatment is on average 7-10 days.
Overdose
Metallic taste in the mouth, headache, nausea. These phenomena disappear after drug withdrawal.
Side Effects
Adverse effects have been identified. In some cases, possible moderate pain at the injection site.
Interaction with other drugs
Not recommended for use with unithiol . When prescribing with other drugs, no negative effects were noted.
