Anthophora [1] ( lat. Anthophora ), previously in a separate family of Anthophoridae ) is one of the largest and most widespread bee species worldwide, including more than 400 species.

Biology
Single species, but colonial colonize. Pollinators. Nest in the soil.
Distribution
They are found all over the world, but are most diverse in the Holarctic and Africa .
Feature
Large and medium sized bees. The upper lip is usually wider than its length or narrowed at the junction with the clypeus, the tongue is long.

The genus belongs to the tribe Anthophorini and includes more than 400 species of bees and about 15 subgenus.

- Additions on the subgenus Anthophora ( Micranthophora ), which in 2018 was restored from synonymy with the subgenus Anthophora ( Heliophila ), and 7 new species are described: Anthophora (Micranthophora) caudata Orr, 2018; Anthophora (Micranthophora) chihuahua Orr, 2018; Anthophora (Micranthophora) escalante Orr, 2018; Anthophora (Micranthophora) parkeri Orr, 2018; Anthophora (Micranthophora) rara Orr, 2018; Anthophora (Micranthophora) striata Orr, 2018; Anthophora (Micranthophora) timberlakei Orr, 2018. Altogether there are 26 species in the subgenus in the Western Hemisphere [2] .
