Port of the Moon ( fr. Port de la Lune ) - the well-established name of the bend of the Garonne , on the left bank of which is the historic center of Bordeaux ( France ). The name comes from the similarity of the bend of the river with the arc of the crescent . This crescent, symbolizing Garonne, is depicted on the emblem of the city of Bordeaux .

Since the 16th century, the commercial port of the city, the main commercial center of Bordeaux, was located on a bend. In the XX century it was moved downstream. Nowadays, in the historical part of the city, only recreational vessels moor from time to time, pedestrian zones have taken the place of trade warehouses.
In 2007, this old part of Bordeaux called “Port of the Moon” was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as “a historically inhabited city, a unique urban and architectural ensemble of the Enlightenment ”.
