Santa Cecilia-Akatitlan , or simply Akatitlan, ast. Acatitlán , “a place among the reeds” is an archaeological monument of the Chichimec culture. Located in the village. Santa Cecilia, municipality of Tlalnepantla de Bas , Mexico City , near the city of Mexico City . In ancient times, the monument was located on the north-west coast of the large Lake Texcoco .

This city of Chichimec culture was closely connected with another monument, Tenayuka , which at that time was the political and religious center of the Chichimec people. Later, both cities conquered the Aztecs , and they continued to exist under the rule of Tenochtitlan , until the victory over the Aztecs of the Spanish conquistadors in 1521 . After the Spanish conquest of Mexico, Akatitlan fell into decay, and soon, along with many other Mesoamerican cities, it was destroyed in order to obtain stone for the construction of numerous Christian churches.

An archaeological museum was opened near the excavation site in 1961.
