Microm hm 200
Mikrotom - a tool for preparing sections of fixed and non-fixed biological tissue, as well as non-biological samples for optical microscopy with a thickness of 1-50 micrometers. Commonly used metal knives. There are several main varieties of microtomes: with the supply of material to the knife, with the supply of the knife to the material, microtomes-cryostats ( cryomicrotomes ).
Microtomes, allowing to obtain sections with a thickness of 10-100 nm, are called ultramycotomes . They are used to prepare samples for electron and scanning probe microscopy . Glass or (preferably) diamond knives are used. Ultra-microtomes combined with cryochambers for preparing sections at low temperatures are called cryo-ultramicrotomes .
