Biography

V. Mulerman and V. Kruglova in 302 MSP of Lieutenant Colonel Dorofeev A.A. GSVG, GDR 1979.

Vadim Mulerman was born on August 18, 1938 in Kharkov into a Jewish family. He studied at the vocal department of the Kharkov Conservatory (P. Golubev, V. Monakhov), later - in Leningrad .

He made his debut on the stage in Kharkov in 1963 , then he worked with the orchestras of Murad Kazhlaev , Leonid Utesov , Anatoly Kroll , Yuri Saulsky , in the Moskontsert and Rosconcert .

Vadim Mulerman became famous in 1966 : he became a laureate of the All-Union Competition of Variety Artists with the song “The Lame King” ( A. Dulov - M. Karem ). Due to ideological censorship, which saw in the song a hint at the political leadership of the Soviet Union, it was necessary to exclude the last verse from the song and change the name to “The Winning King”.

Tours, active concert activities, participation in television programs, as well as victories in song contests contributed to the growth of V. Mulerman's popularity. In 1968, the main hit of the year was the song by Vladimir Shainsky and Mikhail Plyatskovsky "Lada", which was performed by Vadim Mulerman. The song was so popular that many girls born this year got this name. Subsequently, “ Lada ” was even named the export version of the car “Lada” [3] .

By the end of the 1960s, Mulerman became one of the most recognizable and popular performers of the lyrical and civil Soviet songs.

In 1971, by the decision of the Chairman of the State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on Television and Radio Broadcasting S. G. Lapin , Mulerman was removed from the air, he was also banned from concert activities. The reason for the conflict was the inclusion of several Jewish songs by Mulerman in the repertoire against the backdrop of the political confrontation between the USSR and Israel, as well as some unpleasant moments of the singer’s creative activity related to “dubious ways of distributing tickets and organizing concerts” [4] . Subsequently, thanks to the assistance of the Minister of Culture of the USSR E.A. Furtseva , concert performances were again allowed to Mulerman, however, access to television and radio was not returned. The recordings of television programs and the phonograms of his performances were seized and, apparently, destroyed.

Mulerman was supposed to perform a song for the television movie " Seventeen Moments of Spring ." Director Tatyana Lioznova asked him not to sing “with his own voice”, but to adapt to Tikhonov . With this task, the artist coped brilliantly. But it was at that time that a scandal erupted around his "Jewish" repertoire. As a result, the song in "Seventeen Moments" was sung by the longtime rival of Mulerman on the stage - Joseph Kobzon . After that, the singers never performed in one concert.

In 1976, Mulerman became the soloist and artistic director of the VIA “Guys from the Arbat” under the direction of N. Krupyshev (saxophone), representing the Rosconcert.

In 1987, the artist graduated from the directing department of musical theaters of GITIS.

In 1991, Mulerman, for personal reasons (due to his brother’s illness), left for the USA , where he organized a children's musical theater.

In 1996, he appeared on the TV show "Golden Hit" with the song "Lada."

On October 20, 1996, his solo concert took place on the best stage in the capital - in the Rossiya concert hall.

On October 18, 1998, Mulerman gave a concert in New York on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

In 2000, Mulerman, along with Edita Piekha, Nina Brodskaya, Lyudmila Senchina, Eduard Khil, Nikolai Gnatyuk, Yadviga Poplavskaya and Alexander Tikhanovich, took part in the Stars of Our Century International Festival, which took place in many cities of the USA.

In 2004, in the series "Retro Golden Collection", the next CD of the singer with songs for his song period from 1966-1979 was released.

Since 2004 he lived in Kharkov and worked in the youth song theater he created. In 2005, he was appointed Advisor to the Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration on Culture [5] .

In 2007, an MP3 disc consisting of 123 songs of the singer was released.

Since 2008, Mulerman is an honorary citizen of the city of Skadovsk, Ukraine.

In 2008, Mulerman was a guest of Oleg Nesterov’s program “On the Wave of My Memory”.

In 2008, his jubilee concerts “No need to frown, okay ?!” were held in many cities. The legendary VIA “Faithful Friends” took part in these concerts under the direction of Vladimir Ovchinnikov.

On May 11, 2009, the Constellation of the Young contest, dedicated to the memory of the famous Kursk director, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladislav Kutykin, ended at the Kursk Drama Theater. The final round of the competition was led by Mulerman.

In 2010, Vadim Mulerman performed the timeless hit “Lada” in the program of the First Channel “Property of the Republic”.

In 2017, Mulerman was interviewed in New York against the use of his name in the concert "Born of the Revolution." [6]

Mulerman’s voice is a lyrical baritone of a soft matte timbre, with a special rustling sound and pronounced tremolation , diction with a slight snap. The manner of performance is modest, restrained, the singer perfectly controlled the notes of the lower and middle register of baritone, the singing was accompanied by a masterfully arranged jazz accompaniment. Mulerman always worked out in detail the psychological drawing of the song, beating each piece with expressive facial expressions, acting poses and gestures. Working in the genre of lyric songs, the artist recreated a romantic, inspired image, uses sincere, intimate intonations. Songs of the civil-patriotic plan performed by Mulerman were filled with human warmth, sounded without strained pathos, softly and confidentially. On stage, Mulerman kept modestly, with great respect for the viewer [7] .
