Lenna Kuurmaa ( est. Lenna Kuurmaa , born September 26, 1985 [5] in Tallinn , Estonia ) is an Estonian singer, songwriter and film actress. [6] [7] She is a member of the Vanilla Ninja band, but after a break from the band since 2009, she began working as a solo artist. She released her debut album Lenna in June 2010. [8]

Musical career
From 1990 to 2002, she was a member of the ETV Children's Choir and has performed with the choir at many festivals at the international level (in Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Israel, Great Britain, Spain, the USA and Russia). From 2000 to 2006, she studied violin at the Tallinn Music School with Urvo Uibokand. She received a vocal education from Lepa Esther and Lyudmila Isakova 1997-2002. In 2002, she took part in the Fizz Superstar television contest, where she reached the quarter finals. [9] In the same year, she, along with 3 other girls, created the rock band Vanilla Ninja . After the break of Vanilla Ninja in 2009, Lenna Kuurmaa began working as a solo project under the pseudonym Lenna . In June 2010, she released her debut album Lenna [8] . All songs were co-written and produced by Vaiko Eplik , who also owns the label. [10] She performed with her new band at the World Expo in Shanghai in 2010. [10]
Eurovision Song Contest
Lenna Kuurmaa participated in the Eurovision Song Contest and in the national selection competition with varying success.
- In 2003, as part of Vanilla Ninja, the song “Club Kung-Fu” took the last position in the opinion of the international jury of the national selection of the Eurolaul competition, even with strong support from the audience. [eleven]
- Again with Vanilla Ninja, she represents Switzerland with the song “ Cool Vibes ” at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev , where they came in eighth place. [9]
- In 2007, Vanilla Ninja participated in Eurolaul 2007 with the song “Birds of Peace,” but did not qualify for the finals.
- In 2010, Lenna Kuurmaa participated as a solo artist in the 2010 Eesti Laul national competition with the song “Rapunzel”, which was co-hosted by Vaiko Eplik . The song took second place.
- In 2012, she participated in the Eesti Laul 2012 contest with the song “Mina jään”.
- In 2014, she took part in the Eesti Laul 2014 contest with the song “Supernoova” [12] .
- In 2017, she participated in the Eesti Laul 2017 contest with the song “Slingshot”.
Acting career
Lenna Kuurmaa starred in Maya's supporting role in 2007 in the Estonian film Where Souls Go ( Est. Kuhu põgenevad hinged ) and Angela in the Estonian TV series Kodu keset Linna , also 2007. [9] [13] [14] Since 2008 Kuurmaa got a role in the production of the theater NO99 - in the play Pericles, Prince of Tire as a guest actor. [9] [15] In 2010, she received the role of investigator of the Estonian Security Police in crime drama - in the series Kelgukoerad . [10] She stated that she was not interested in pursuing a professional acting education. [10]
She starred in the film Peeter Simm “Lonely Island” [16] , and in the film of Finnish director Aku Louhimies “ Naked Bay ” [17] . Both films were released in 2012.
Creativity and Out-of-Band Participation
Lenna Kuurmaa also worked on television, for example, taking part in organizing the Laulu Karussell song contest in 2006. She has been the program editor for Sky Plus Radio since 2007. [9] Kuurmaa is a member of the Estonian Artists Association (EEL) and the Estonian Authors Association (EAÜ). [9] She took part in the projects of the musical theaters Kuningas JA Mina (“ King and I ”) and Helisev muusika (“ Sounds of Music ”) [9] .
In 2007, Lenna Kuurmaa was selected by the Raadio 2 audience as a singer participating in the “Unistuste Band” ( Dream Band ) - a supergroup of popular Estonian musicians - as part of their only performance at the Raadio 2 Hit gala concert at the end of the year. [18] .
In 2009, Lenna sang the Estonian anthem at a friendly meeting of the Estonian and Brazilian football teams [19] .
In 2015, Lenna participated in the fourth season of the Su nägu kõlab tuttavalt program , Estonian version of the One to One! .
Personal life
For some time she met with Estonian football player Ragnar Klavan [20] [21] ; later, with musician Robert Weigla, from whom on March 2, 2013 she had a daughter, Ami [22] [23] .
