Semiconductor diode

The circuit of a semiconductor silicon diode. Below is his symbolic image on electrical circuit diagrams.

A semiconductor diode is a semiconductor device , in the broad sense - an electronic device made of a semiconductor material , having two electrical leads ( electrodes ). In a narrower sense, it is a semiconductor device in the internal structure of which one pn junction is formed.

Unlike other types of diodes, for example, vacuum ones , the principle of operation of semiconductor diodes is based on various physical phenomena of charge transfer in a solid-state semiconductor and their interaction with an electromagnetic field in a semiconductor.
