Story
Season 1
1518-1530 The young and vain King Henry VIII is eager to take the lead among other monarchs of Europe . In addition to participating in public affairs and social life, he also has to resist the spread of Lutheran worship in his kingdom. But the main concern of Henry is the question of succession. Of all the children born during the years of marriage with Catherine of Aragon , only a girl survived - Princess Mary . His illegitimate son from the favorite of Bessie Blount , Henry Fitzroy , whom Heinrich planned to declare his successor, died in early childhood. In an effort to get a son-heir, Heinrich decides to divorce Catherine and marry an ambitious beauty Anne Boleyn .
Season 2
1532-1536 As a result of the break with Rome, Heinrich becomes the supreme head of the Church of England and, having canceled his marriage with Catherine of Aragon, takes Anna Bolein as his wife. His new marriage, however, does not bring the desired results, since the queen gave birth to a daughter, Princess Elizabeth . By sending Anna to the scaffold on the false accusation of adultery, the king intends to marry a third time - with Lady Jane Seymour .
Season 3
1536-1540 In the kingdom, dissatisfaction with church reforms is growing, which results in a major uprising in the northern counties, known as the “ Beneficial pilgrimage ”. Having dealt cruelly with the rebels, Heinrich celebrates the birth of the heir, Prince Edward , but his joy is overshadowed by the death of Jane Seymour . Fearing the invasion of the Spaniards and the French, Heinrich seeks support from other European countries and, at the insistence of his Minister Thomas Cromwell , marries a Protestant princess Anna Cleves . The new wife did not like the king, and soon a divorce ensued, which led to the execution of Cromwell.
Season 4
1540-1547 In the final season, emphasis was placed on the development of the king’s relationship with his last wives, Katherine Howard and Katharina Parr , as well as the war between England and France, in particular, the siege of Boulogne is illustrated in detail. In general, the final period of the life of Henry VIII Tudor is described.

Discrepancies with historical facts
The series contains a large number of historical liberties and tolerances relating to the names, appearance, relations with each other of some characters [1] . In addition, because of the main artistic feature of the film - the hero of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers throughout the series almost never gets older outwardly - it seems that between the events in the series are quite short periods of time, which is not true: the events shown in the series for several decades [2] .
- The character of Heinrich's sister, Princess Margaret, is a combination of the images of his two sisters. The events in the life of his younger sister, Maria Tudor, were combined with the name of his older sister, Margaret Tudor . According to historical facts, Princess Maria first married the French king Louis XII . The marriage lasted about three months, until the death of the king. Mary then became the wife of Duke Suffolk. In the series, Princess Margaret marries a Portuguese king. Marriage lasts only a couple of days, since Margaret kills her old husband by strangling her with a pillow. And on the way back to England, she secretly married her to Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk , who accompanied her to Portugal . During these events, Duke Suffolk and Princess Maria had long been married and had several children, and Henry's older sister Margaret Tudor managed to become the widow of the Scottish king Jacob IV and marry Archibald Douglas .
- The character of Uncle Heinrich, who was killed in the first series of the Ambassador in Italy, is fictional.
- In the series, the Cardinal informs Thomas Wolsey of the imminent death of Pope Alexander. There is a mistake in the name. In fact, in 1523 Pope Adrian VI died, whose successor was Pope Clement VII .
- In the series, Cardinal Wolsey committed suicide, but in reality he fell seriously ill on his way to London and died as a result of his illness.
- In the series Henry VIII is often called the King of Ireland, but in fact the title of King of Ireland appeared only in 1541. So during the events taking place in the series, Henry VIII was supposed to be called only the Lord of Ireland.
- In the series 3 of the 2nd season, the Pope announces the creation of the Jesuit Order. This is impossible, since the action takes place right before the wedding of Henry VIII with Anna Boleyn, that is, around 1533, but in reality the Pope approved the order only in the 1540th year.
- In season 4, at a meeting of the parliament on December 22, 1545, we see Charles Brandon in the ranks of the crowd. In fact, he died on August 22, 1545.
- The series shows only one illegitimate child of Henry VIII - Henry Fitzroy , who dies in early childhood from prickly heat . In fact, Henry Fitzroy died at the age of 17 from transient consumption , before he married Lady Mary Howard, daughter of Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk .
- In the series, Anne Boleyn was Thomas Wyatt 's mistress. In fact, there is only one novel by Anne Boleyn - with Lord Henry Percy , son of the Duke of Northumberland, whose engagement was not upset with the help of King Henry VIII.
- In the series, the Duke of Norfolk told Charles that his father was executed by the father of Henry VIII. In fact, the father of the duke Thomas Howard, the 2nd duke of Norfolk, died by his death in 1524. It was he (and not Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk ) who tried the Duke of Buckingham at a court of peers in 1521 and issued a death sentence.
- In the TV series Richard Rich, by provocation, achieved a confession from Thomas More that the king cannot be the head of the Church by divine law. Richard Rich acted as the main witness for the prosecution at the trial, where Thomas More was sentenced to the so-called qualified execution (hanging, burning the entrails, quartering and beheading), replaced by the decision of Henry VIII with the usual cutting off of the head. In fact, all this happened to John Fisher .
- The character of the fourth season of the series, Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey in the series is uncle the fifth wife of King Catherine Howard . In fact, he was her cousin.
