Proprioreceptors, proprioceptors, sensitive receptors (from lat. Proprius - “own, special” and receptor - “receiving”) - peripheral elements of sensory organs located in the muscles , ligaments , joint bags , in the skin and indicating their work (muscle contractions, changes in body position in space). Proprioreceptors are a particular type of mechanoreceptor . The feeling corresponding to these elements of sensory organs is proprioception .
Proprioceptors include, in addition to free nerve endings, also muscle spindles , Golgi bodies concentrated in the tendons, and Pacinium bodies located in the fascia , tendons , and ligaments.
