Biography
In 534 of the First Age, Earendil the Navigator went to Valinor for help against Morgoth, and after 4 years the sons of Feanor Maedhros and Maglor attacked the Harbor of Sirion, wishing to take possession of the Silmaril, which belonged to Elving. Elrond and Elros were captured. Maglor felt sorry for them and saved their lives. They say he took care of the children and raised them for a while. Although, according to another version, the twins were left by their invaders in a cave behind a waterfall, where they were later found alive and unharmed. Elving, however, escaped with the Silmaril and in the guise of a bird she found the ship Earendil. Despair seized them because of the loss of the children, and they did not return to Middle-earth. Together, they reached the Undying Lands and Eärendil requested the assistance of the Valar in the war against Morgoth.
At the end of the First Epoch, the Valar Army, with the support of the elves of Valinor and Earendil himself, defeated Morgoth in the War of Wrath. Vala Manwe ruled that Eärendil and Elwing, as well as their children Elrond and Elros, must choose which race to belong to — Elves or Humans. Earendil and Elving chose the Elven race and remained in the Undying Lands. Elros chose the fate of the People and became mortal. He became the first King of Numenor, and the Kings of Numenor and the rulers of Gondor and Arnor, including Aragorn (Elessara), lead from him. Elros lived 500 years and died in the year 442 of the Second Age. Elrond chose the fate of the Elves. He became immortal and could go beyond the Sea to the Undying Lands, but decided to stay in Middle Earth with the High King Noldor Gil-Galad. They both settled in Lindon, the land west of the Blue Mountains, which was part of Beleriand, before it was destroyed in the War of Wrath. Servant Morgoth Sauron survived the War of Wrath and around 1200, the Second Age appeared among the Elves in a beautiful face, and immediately tried to gain their trust. Gil-galad and Elrond did not recognize him, but they did not trust him and forbade him to appear in Lyndon.
Contrary to the warnings of Bishop Lyndon and Elrond, the Elven Blacksmiths of Eregion accepted Sauron and began to forge the Rings of Power under his leadership around 1500. Around 1600, Sauron secretly forged the One Ring to rule the rest, and Celebrimbor, the King of Eregion and the grandson of Feanor, realized that he had been deceived. However, Celebrimbor himself hid from Sauron the Three Rings of Elves, giving Vilyu, the Ring of Air, Gil-galad.
After the invasion of Sauron's army into Eregion , the murder of Celebrimbor and the closing of the gates of Moria in the middle of the Second Age, Elrond founded the stronghold Imladris , which people called Rivendell. This fortress became the main elven settlement of the Noldor in Eriador, and Elrond himself was appointed Gil-Galad as viceroy of the High King in Eriador. The remaining residents of Eregion and the remnants of the elven army sent by Gil-Galad to help Eregion remained in the settlement. Soon Rivendell himself was besieged by the army of Sauron, and the siege was lifted only after the defeat of the main forces of Sauron by the Numenoreans. In the days of the Third Age , after the death of Gil-Galad , Elrond gathered many elves and other powerful and wise representatives of the peoples of Middle - earth in Imladris. There he kept the memory of the past and the beautiful. Throughout the Third Age, Elrond continued to assist the Heirs of Isildur, who were his relatives, as they were descended from his brother Elros. Elrond knew that one day the descendant of Elendil would play a decisive role in the fate of Middle-earth.
Together with Gil-Galad and Elendil, Elrond participated in the War of the Last Alliance (Second Age). In the year 109 of the Third Age, Elrond married Celebrian, daughter of Galadriel and Celeborn. Their twin sons Elladan and Elrohir were born in the year 130, their daughter Arwen - in 241. The children of Lord Rivendell met the same choice as he once did - belong to the race of the Elves or Humans, but they could be postponed for a long time own choice. Around 1300, the Head of the Nazgгуl appeared in Eriador and founded the kingdom of Angmar. Then Rivendell was besieged by the allies of Angmar for a while. In 1409, the King's Warlock troops attacked the lands of the shattered Arnor. Elrond brought help from Rivendell and Lothlorien, joining forces with Cirdan Korabel of Gray Havens. Finally, in 1975, the leader of the Nazg назl retreated to Mordor after the Battle of Fornost, in which an army from Rivendell under the leadership of Glorfindel participated. In 2509, Elrond's wife Celebrian was captured by the Orcs on the Passage of the Crimson Horn on the way to Lothlorien. The orcs tortured her and wounded her with a poisoned dagger before her sons, Elladan and Elrohir, managed to find and save their mother. Elrond managed to heal his wife's wounds, but fear and memories tormented Celebrian, and she could no longer find joy in Middle-earth. Therefore, in 2510, she left Middle-earth and went beyond the Sea to the Undying Lands.
After the end of the War of the Ring, together with Gandalf , Galadriel , Frodo and Bilbo sailed to Valinor on September 29, 3021 of the Third Age at the age of about 6520 years.
The iconic figure of Middle-earth
Elrond possessed the wisdom of the elf-eldar and the gift of foresight. Only to him and Lord of Gray Harbors Kirdan Korabelu appeared magi-istari appeared in Middle Earth. He was a member of the White Council , assembled by Queen Lorien Galadriel to fight Sauron . Elrond immediately suspected something was wrong when, in the Second Epoch, Sauron came to Middle-earth in a beautiful guise under the name Annatar, because he foresaw his return. The son of Earendil Morehod possessed tremendous power, and he was kind. By his appearance it was impossible to guess his age, his face was beautiful, his hair was dark, and his eyes were gray.
Rings of Power
Elrond witnessed Isildur vs Sauron. When Isildur threw Sauron and took the One Ring , Elrond advised to destroy the source of the power of the Enemy in the fire of Orodruin . However, Isildur did not do this and took the Ring as a virus for the murdered father and brother Anarion. However, the Ring betrayed the owner: on the way back not far from the Irisnaya Nizina in the floodplain of the Anduin, Isildur’s detachment was attacked by orcs and killed almost all of the king’s warriors, and Isildur himself was killed with bows, who tried to escape with the Ring, but lost him. The few survivors of Isildur's unit came to Imladris, among them - the squire Okhtar, who brought the fragments of the famous sword of Elendil Narsil . Elrond predicted that the sword itself would not be reforged until the One Ring was found and Sauron returned.
When Sauron returned in the guise of the Eye and began to search for the Ring, Elrond at the famous council in Imladris again decided to destroy the Ring found. To accomplish this mission and to assist the Custodian, on his initiative, the Brotherhood of the Ring was formed.
As it turned out by the end of the Third Age , Elrond owned one of the Three Elven Rings , which Sauron's hand did not touch - the Ring of Villa , the Ring of Air, the strongest of the Three.
