Chris takes a newspaper delivery job to buy a birthday present for a girl he likes. In the store, he witnesses a robbery and a bicycle is stolen from him. At the police station, Chris testifies and points to a robber. Soon Peter appears and gives the bandit (not knowing who he is) a portrait of Chris, his school schedule and even a list of his fears ( picture of Chris with a list of his school schedules and his greatest fears ).

Robber (Media Slayer) escapes custody. He knows where to look for Chris, and vows to take revenge on him, so the Griffin family falls under the United States Federal Witness Protection Program , which is why he moved to the tiny town of Bumblescum in the distant southern states . In Bumblescam, Peter becomes a sheriff , and Brian becomes his deputy; Stewie joins the “ provincial ensemble ” ( hillbilly jug band ); Meg is becoming popular among new classmates; and Chris meets a girl named Sam (at first Chris is sure that Sam is a boy).

Peter and his family watch the reconstruction of the Civil War ( American Civil War reenactment ). In this production “southerners” win, not “northerners”. Peter intervenes in the reconstruction and tries to convince everyone of the incorrectness of the production, forgetting that in the South "northerners" do not like. For this, Sam’s father forbids her to be friends with Chris, and war veterans are chasing after Peter.

Sam kisses Chris and he believes that Sam is gay . Chris hesitates whether he would become a homosexual in this case, but a little later he tells Sam that "he loves him only as a friend."
