Biography
In 1807 he graduated from the Petersburg Theater School and performed on the stage of the St. Petersburg Bolshoi and Maly Theaters in operas and dramas. Best known as a performer of character parts.
From 1816 to 1848, he combined acting with directing. He wrote the lyrics to the plays and the libretto, was the production director, in particular, composed the libretto and put on the opera “The Firebird, or the Adventures of Ivan the Tsarevich”. He was the first director of "Piemonte Mountains, or the blowing up of the Chortov Bridge".
