Lupcho Yordanovsky ( Macedonian Љupcho ановordanovski ; February 13, 1953 , Shtip , People's Republic of Macedonia , Yugoslavia - October 7, 2010 , Skopje , Macedonia [1] ) - Macedonian seismologist, politician, former chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia .

Education and academic career

Lupcho Yordanovsky graduated in 1975 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Zagreb . In 1985, he received his doctorate from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles . From 1987 to 1992 he was an assistant professor, then until 2003 a professor at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje .

Political career

  • From 1991 to 1995 - member of the Presidium of SDSM .
  • From 1995 to 1999 - member of the Central Committee of the SDSM.
  • From 1999 to 2003, he was a member of the Presidium of SDSM and the International Committee of SDSM.
  • In 2002, he was elected to the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and became chairman of the Committee on Elections and Appointments.
  • From November 2003 to August 2006, he chaired the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.

On February 26, 2004, the president of Macedonia, Boris Traykovsky , died in a plane crash, and Lupcho Yordanovsky acted as head of state until the election of a new president.

From July to December 2006 he was the ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to the United States .

October 21, 2007 created the Party of Free Democracy and became its chairman.

Family

Lupcho Yordanovsky was married, had three children.
