Despite the emergence of the EOS system and the fact that it was the last professional Canon camera with manual focus and the last professional camera using the FD mount , the T90 has implemented many new technical solutions that are still used in modern SLR cameras . Due to its strength, it was nicknamed the “tank” by Japanese photojournalists. The camera body design was designed by Luigi Colani .
Metering
Canon has developed a new metering system for the T90. Although it did not include new modes, it gathered a number of modes into one system. The metering modes (point, average and partial) are switched by pressing a button and turning the wheel.
Flash
The T90 was the first Canon camera to support TTL flash metering. The light reflected from the emulsion of the film is measured during exposure, and the flash pulse stops when the film is sufficiently exposed. This feature was later used in Canon EOS film SLR cameras. Therefore, the Canon T90 is Canon's only non-EOS SLR camera supporting TTL flash. Specially for use with TTL metering, a new external flash - Canon Speedlite 300TL - was released on the T90.
