History

The festival was created in 1996 by Sharon Osbourne - the wife and manager of Ozzy. The tour was well received and became an annual event. The first Ozzfest was not a national tour, but simply a two-day festival held in Phoenix, Arizona and Devora, California on October 25 and 26, 1996. In 1997, there were many protests outside the festival to cancel the performance of Marilyn Manson . However, all that was planned took place. In 1998, the festival went to the UK. The July 18, 1998 concert at Float Rite Park was combined with the 1998 Warped Tour, which was attended by 39,000 people and lasted 12 hours, in six stages with 48 groups.

In the early 2000s, musicians such as Slipknot , Pantera , Marilyn Manson , Mudvayne , Godsmack , Rob Zombie , Incubus , Linkin Park , [8] System of a Down , Chevelle and Disturbed performed annually. On August 20, 2004, there were several occasions at Iron Maiden performances. During the performance of the first song, ice, eggs and corks were thrown into the group because Bruce Dickinson ridiculed Ozzy because of his need for a prompter on television during the reality show The Battle for Ozzfest (a contest where they selected the best musician for the next festival). The power was also turned off due to which the group could not play further. On February 7, 2007, free tickets were announced. But the organizers did not pay for the performance. We cannot be happier than now. ” Ozzy added, "We are here to create devastation and history." Corey said, “This will be the coolest thing I've ever been a part of. Starting with Ozzfest, seeking recognition with Knotfest, we join forces to make a little history in metal. It was about to happen and I am proud to be a part of it. ” Sean Craham said “Playing with Black Sabbath is always an honor.
