Biography
He was born in the 70s of the 15th century in the village of [1] (in the territory of the present Jabrail region of Azerbaijan ), which is located on the slope of the mountain of the same name, near the Khudaferin bridge . Gurbani lived for some time at the court of Shah Ismail , then returned to Diri , where he lived until the end of his days. He was buried on the top of Mount Diri, not far from the ruins of the village and the old cemetery on the eastern side of the Mazan-nene sanctuary.
Creativity
Gurbani lived in an era when the ozanas accompanying their performances with the gopuz replaced the ashugs, who sang their songs in the saz . Gurbani’s lyric works are permeated with love for the motherland and an attempt to express the human worldview through the prism of feelings, which fully characterized the very essence of the ashug genre, from Turkic ashig - “in love” ( Azeri aşıq ). Gurbani's creativity had a strong influence on the development of ashug poetry. The folk dastan “Gurbani” of the 17-18 centuries captured episodes from the poet’s biography and samples of his lyrics.
From the information scattered in his verses, one can understand that he was older than his contemporary Shah Ismail . He addresses the shah like this:
My shah, the heir to the sheikh sage,
I'm sorry my complaint is long.
Read it, but to the end -
I myself don’t know what my fault is. [2]
Theme of Love
Most of his poems are devoted to his beloved, beauty of nature:
So accepted, beautiful peri,
Tearing violets in early spring,
Bouquet with your white hand dial -
Decorate the gate of the painted violet.
Is it not in the stellar land they grew
Was it not from heaven that they were taken for the earth,
Yes, it’s a pity that they reported so little -
In front of me violets
You do not execute the separation of Gurbani,
He, inconsolable, hunch, look.
They don’t bend from separation, and they -Direct you will not meet not one violet! [2]
