Poprad-Tatry ( Slovak: Poprad-Tatry , TAT ) is the airport in Slovakia , the highest altitude airport in Europe (718 meters above sea level).

History

The first field military airfield in Poprad appeared in 1938 . Transportation began in 1943 on the line Bratislava - Sliac - Three Oaks - Poprad - Presov . In 1970, before the World Ski Championships, a concrete strip and a new airport building were built. In the former Czechoslovakia, the Poprad Tatras was the third most important airport. The most successful year for the airport was 1976 , when it served 156 thousand passengers.

Feature

Regular flights to London are operated by Wizz Air . As of 2016, direct flights on the route Poprad - Riga from December to March are operated by airBaltic . Seasonal flights are also operated to Warsaw .

The concrete strip 09/27 has a length of 2600 meters and a width of 45 m. The angle is 3.5 o , there are ILS navigation equipment of category I available.
