Born in Moscow. At age 6, his father took Igor to CSKA school. 1st coach - Yuri Moiseev . At the same time he studied at a football school with Albert Shesternev . Only 13 years old decided that he would become a hockey player.

When Igor was 12 years old, the family survived the tragedy - Igor's elder brother, who worked in the Moscow Spartak double, was killed.

At the age of 16, Vyazmikin was in the main team of CSKA . In the 1st game, he scored a goal against the “Falcon”.

After the Junior World Cup-86, where he became the champion and entered the symbolic team, the adult World Cup-86 was declared in the same troika as Konstantinov and Kamensky . However, the day before the start of the tournament, he got a leg injury when practicing the game in the majority - in the playing moment Konstantinov pushed Gusarov , and he ran into Vyazmikin’s leg. As a result - 8 stitches and a ban on doctors participating in the World Cup.

In 1989, after leaving Moiseyev from CSKA, he moved to Chemist . In total in the championships of the USSR - 182 games, 50 goals.

As Vyazmikin later admitted, he ended up at Edmonton in an unsuccessful period - during a generational change. Because of this, it was impossible to gain a foothold in the team, but they didn’t give themselves up (I spent 4 games in total, scored 1 goal). He was sent to a farm club from the city of Sydney, where he spent the season. Then he played for six months in the IHL, in the Milwaukee Admirals , then in the Los Angeles Kings Farm Club - the Phoenix.

As a result, realizing that he could not get into the NHL, he left to play in Denmark (Rungstead), later played in Italy, on the same team with Sergei Sorokin - in Fass. In the 1996/97 season he played for Ilves with Vladimir Yurzinov Jr.

In 1997 he returned to Russia, played for HC CSKA and Severstal in 1998-99. In total during these two seasons 43 matches, 9 goals, 11 assists.
