Biography
Born in Moscow. At age 6, his father took Igor to CSKA school. 1st coach - Yuri Moiseev . At the same time he studied at a football school with Albert Shesternev . Only 13 years old decided that he would become a hockey player.
When Igor was 12 years old, the family survived the tragedy - Igor's elder brother, who worked in the Moscow Spartak double, was killed.
At the age of 16, Vyazmikin was in the main team of CSKA . In the 1st game, he scored a goal against the “Falcon”.
After the Junior World Cup-86, where he became the champion and entered the symbolic team, the adult World Cup-86 was declared in the same troika as Konstantinov and Kamensky . However, the day before the start of the tournament, he got a leg injury when practicing the game in the majority - in the playing moment Konstantinov pushed Gusarov , and he ran into Vyazmikin’s leg. As a result - 8 stitches and a ban on doctors participating in the World Cup.
In 1989, after leaving Moiseyev from CSKA, he moved to Chemist . In total in the championships of the USSR - 182 games, 50 goals.
In 1990 he moved to the NHL club “ Edmonton Oilers ”, which he selected as a draft in 1987. At the same time, he ruined relations with the head coach of the “Chemist” Vladimir Vasiliev.
As Vyazmikin later admitted, he ended up at Edmonton in an unsuccessful period - during a generational change. Because of this, it was impossible to gain a foothold in the team, but they didn’t give themselves up (I spent 4 games in total, scored 1 goal). He was sent to a farm club from the city of Sydney, where he spent the season. Then he played for six months in the IHL, in the Milwaukee Admirals , then in the Los Angeles Kings Farm Club - the Phoenix.
As a result, realizing that he could not get into the NHL, he left to play in Denmark (Rungstead), later played in Italy, on the same team with Sergei Sorokin - in Fass. In the 1996/97 season he played for Ilves with Vladimir Yurzinov Jr.
In 1997 he returned to Russia, played for HC CSKA and Severstal in 1998-99. In total during these two seasons 43 matches, 9 goals, 11 assists.
In the 2000s, he worked as a coach, was a mentor to the youth team of the Moscow Spartak.
After the murder of his older brother, he began to abuse alcohol. [one]
In recent years, he was seriously ill, died on October 30, 2009 [2] . He was buried at the Lianozovsky cemetery in Moscow.
