Osman Sarivelli ( azerb. Osman Sarıvəlli , present Osman Kurbanov azerb. Osman Abdulla oğlu Qurbanov ; 1905 , Ikinji Shikhli - July 3, 1990 , Baku ) is the national poet of Azerbaijan.

Biography
Osman Abdullah oglu Kurbanov was born in 1905 in the village of Ikinji Shikhli of the Kazakh district (now the Kazakh region of Azerbaijan). In 1926 he graduated from the teacher’s seminary in Kazakh , in 1932 - the philological faculty of Moscow State University . Member of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45. From his youth, Saryvelli experienced the hardships of life: he hired, grazed sheep. The difficult and joyless teenage years of the poet found artistic expression in the poems "Violet", "My Biography", "Tales of the Elder", "Light". [1] .

Literary heritage
Saryvelli in his poetic practice relied on ashug poetry. Skillfully using her rich experience, he created songs that sounded the thoughts and aspirations of his contemporaries. In the poems "Mount Avei", "My Countrymen", "Athlete", "Heir" and other Saryvelli sang love, goodness and labor. The burdens and deprivations of mankind during the Second World War in 1939-45, the poet reflected in his poems “The First Day of the War”, “Brother by Blood”, “All This Will Live”, “Congratulations” and other works that can be attributed to the best examples of Azerbaijani poetry. Sarivelli wrote a wonderful series of poems about South Azerbaijan - “Camel Caravan”, “Beggar in Panama”, “First Lessons”, “Last Snow”.
In the post-war years, another facet of Saryvelli's creative talent was revealed. He spoke on the pages of newspapers and magazines with satirical poems. Saryvelli is the author of numerous literary works, he is also known as an excellent translator, thanks to whom the lines of Sophocles 's Antigones, verses by M. Jalil, Alexander Pushkin , Konstantin Simonov and other poets sounded in the Azerbaijani language . Saryvelli's works have been translated into many foreign languages.
He died in 1990 in Baku . He was buried at home in the village of Ikinji Shikhli , where a school was named after him.
