Biography and Creativity
He was born on October 3, 1886 in the city of La Chapelle d'Angillon . He gained world fame thanks to the only completed novel " Big Moln " ( French Le Grand Meaulnes ), written in 1913. The novel is written in a lyrical manner , like the author’s memories of childhood, about school, about the games and thoughts of adolescents, the novel combines a dynamic plot and romantic intrigue with a realistic depiction of French provincial life.
Having gained fame after the publication of the novel, Alain Fournier got a job as secretary of a wealthy businessman, Claude Casimir-Perrier, who co-authored with him on the book Brest, transatlantic port ( French Brest, port transatlantique ). The writer died at the front at the beginning of the First World War , on September 22, 1914 , in the forest of Saint-Remy near Verdun, during the first battle on the Marne .
After his death, his early poems and prose miniatures were published, composing the book Miracles ( Fr. Miracles , 1924 ), as well as several volumes of letters. Fragments of his unfinished novel “ Colomb Blanchet ” ( fr. Colombe Blanchet ) were published in December 1922 in the journal Nouvelle Revue française .
