Ladislav Prokes ( Czech. Ladislav Prokeš , June 7, 1884 , Prague - January 9, 1966 , Prague ) - Czech chess player and chess composer - etude , professor. Judge of the international category in chess composition ( 1956 ) [1] , a prominent representative of the Czech school in composition.

In 1921 he became the champion of Czechoslovakia . He played as part of the Czechoslovak team at chess olympiads in 1927, 1928 and 1931 [2] . He successfully performed in a number of European tournaments in the 1920s.
The first sketch was published in 1906. In 1951 he released the author's collection of sketches “ Kniha šachových studií ” (623 sketches). In total, Prokesh amounted to 1159 sketches, coming out at that time to 4th place in the world in this indicator after E. Pogosyants , A. Rink and A. A. Troitsky [3] . 23 of his sketches are included in FIDE Albums . For many years he edited the section of chess studies in Československý šach (1909-1927) and other newspapers.
