The administrative center is the working village Ilovlya .
Geography
The district is located in the central part of the Volgograd region , in the steppe zone, between the rivers Don , Ilovlya and Volga on the Don ridge in the southern part of the Volga Upland . The Zadonsky reserve and the Donskoy nature park are located in the district.
History
The Ilovlinsky District was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on June 23, 1928, as part of the Stalingrad District of the Lower Volga Territory . Since 1934 as part of the Stalingrad region , since 1936 - the Stalingrad ( Volgograd ) region. In 1963 the district was abolished, re-formed in 1965 .
At the intersection of the Caspian federal highway and Tsaritsyn watch line 6 kilometers from Kachalino there is a well-preserved section of the line with a platform for stopping vehicles, a memorial plate, an old cannon and a concrete stele, showing the shaft profile with a banquet for firing in its original dimensions at the time of construction in 1720 year
