History
In 1953, the German government announced a tender for the construction of an SUV for the army. Porsche became interested in this tender and in the same year introduced its prototype. Despite the fact that the Porsche car was clearly superior to the competition, the German armed forces chose the DKW Munga , which cost about ⅓ of the cost of the Porsche 597.
