Yoswani Terry Cabrera

Yoswani Terry Cabrera was born in Camaguey , Cuba in 1972.

He made his first musical steps with his father Eladio "Don Pancho" Terry, a violinist and virtuoso checker. His father is also known as the founder and director of the famous Cuban charanga orchestra. Terry Cabrera received classical music education from Yoswani at the prestigious National School of Art (ENA) and at the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory.

Back in Cuba, Yoswani gained popularity thanks to its innovative performance and collaboration with such legends as Chucho Valdes , Silvio Rodriguez , Fito Páez and Cubanismo , as well as for working in his own Columna B team .) . Their collective became the voice of young Cuban jazz players. The Columna B group became his experimental laboratory, where Yoswani experimented with everything that captured his imagination. “ Working at Columna B , ” said Terry, “ we learned to incorporate our intuition and bring our performing skills to perfection .” Together with the Columna B group, Yoswani began to travel with performances to the USA and Europe, and in 1998 was invited by Arts International (through the Ford Foundation) to the Stanford Jazz Festival.

In 1999, Yoswani moved to New York and immediately received recognition in jazz circles for his outstanding talent, where he played with Roy Hargrove, Steve Coleman, Eddie Palmieri, Dave Douglas ( Dave Douglass), by Jeff Watts of Tain, Horacio Hernandez of El Negro, and double bass player Avishay Cohen.
