Dinar (from Greek Greek δηνάριον from Latin dēnārius “consisting of ten”, from dēnī “by ten”, from decem “10” [1] [2] ) is the monetary unit of various countries, most of which are Arabic - speaking or former part of the Ottoman Empire (for example, the states that were part of Yugoslavia ). The word dinar ( Arabic: دينار ) comes from denarius , the name of the coin of the Roman Empire . The money mentioned in the Qur'an is also called dinars .
