Ikindzhi shihly

Ikindzhi Shikhly ( Azeri. İkinci Şıxlı ) is a village in the Kazakh region of Azerbaijan , on the border with Georgia , located 34 km from the district center of Kazakh . The village of Shikhly is divided into two parts: Birindzhi Shikhly and Ikindzhi Shikhly.

History

The village of Ikindzhi Shikhly was part of the Kazakh district of Elizavetpol province . In 1929, the county was abolished, and the village became part of the newly formed Kazakh district .

At the beginning of the XXI century, the Ganja archaeological expedition on the territory of Ikindzhi Shikhli was excavated, during which the ruins of a medieval city were discovered on a high sandy hill at the confluence of the Kura and Khrami rivers. Archaeologists have concluded that the discovered ruins belong to the city of Hunan , the location of which until then Azerbaijani and Georgian scientists considered the Tovuz region [1] .

Population

According to the “ Caucasian calendar ” for 1910, in the village of the 2nd Shikhly of the Kazakh district in 1908, 1867 people lived (in the memorial book of the Elizavetpol province it is specified that 1098 men and 739 women, only 300 houses [2] ), in 1912 - 1837 people, 1915/1916 - 2034 people, consisting mainly of Azerbaijanis , indicated in all the above materials as "Tatars" [3] [4] [5] [6] .

  • Kazym-agha Salik - the poet.
  • Mehdi Hussein - a writer and critic, chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan SSR.
  • Mustafa-aga Arif - the poet.
  • Sarivelli, Osman - people's poet of Azerbaijan.
  • Shikhlinsky, Ali-Aga Ismail-Aga oglu - Russian, Azeri and Soviet military leader; General of the artillery, which was considered in the royal army "God of artillery."
  • Shikhlinsky, Javad-bek Mamed-Aga oglu - Russian, Azerbaijani and Iranian military commander, Major General; was the main organizer of the 1920 Ganja uprising .
  • Shikhly, Ismail - writer, national writer of Azerbaijan.
