The Frankfurt Book Fair ( German: Frankfurter Buchmesse ) is the largest book fair in the world. It takes place annually in mid-October in the German city of Frankfurt . Over five days, more than 7 thousand exhibitors from about 100 countries of the world and more than 286 thousand visitors take part in it. The honorary guests of the Frankfurt Fair at different times were: Finland (2014 [1] ) Turkey (2008), India (2006), Russia (2003), Portugal (1997), Japan (1990).
History
Not a single book forum in the world can boast such an ancient history as the Frankfurt Book Fair. It was first held in 1473 [2] , systematically carried out since 1574 . The Frankfurt Book Fair is traditionally associated with the book printing house founded by Johannes Gutenberg near Frankfurt (in Mainz ). And since then, Frankfurt has been the book capital of Europe.
