ImHalal is the first Islamic search engine. It differs from other web search engines in that it does not produce results with content that is contrary to Islam. A new search engine can distinguish allowed (Muslim) halal search results from forbidden ( haram ). The ImHalal site operates on the basis of a three-point system that evaluates sites for their “harem” and, in case the sites found have a high level of bans for Muslims, suggests setting other search terms. So, if a user tries to find pornographic material, the system will display a message: “Oops! Your search inquiry has a Haram level of 3 out of 3! I would like to advise you to change your search terms and try again. " In addition to English, the site can also find materials in other languages, in particular, in Russian .
The creator of the service, Reza Sardeha, claims that “thanks to the new resource, Muslims will be able to protect themselves and their loved ones from sites whose contents do not fit into Sharia law ” ^[1] .
The new search engine has already managed to get approval in the SAM of the Republic of Tatarstan ^[2] .
But in 2011, the search engine was closed due to lack of funding. At the moment, the resource exists only to preserve the history and successes of I'mHalal.
