Biography

In its own words, comes from the priestly class. His ancestors, Florinsky, held priestly positions. Grandfather - Archpriest Sergiy Fedorovich Florinsky (1873-1918), was shot by the Bolsheviks in Estonia , numbered by the Russian Orthodox Church in 2002 as a saint. Florinsky's parents were chemical scientists.

In 1974 he graduated from the History Department of Leningrad State University , then graduate school at the Department of History of the USSR. The supervisor of studies at the university is Professor V.V. Mavrodin , and in postgraduate studies - Academician B.V. Ananyich . Since 1978 - candidate of historical sciences ( dissertation "The Council of Ministers of Russia in 1907-1914."). Since 1990 - Doctor of Historical Sciences (the dissertation "Autocracy and the Problem of Unity of State Administration during the First World War (1914 - February 1917)").

Since 1978 - assistant, since 1984 - assistant professor, since 1992 - professor at the Department of History of the USSR (now the Department of Russian History from ancient times to the 20th century) at the Faculty of History (now the Institute of History) of the Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) University . He gives a general lecture course on the history of Russia in the second half of the 19th century, as well as lecture courses on cathedral special disciplines - “The History of State Institutions of Pre-Revolutionary Russia” at the full-time, evening, and correspondence departments and “Foreign Policy of Russia in the Second Half of the 19th – Early 20th Centuries.” . Conducts a special seminar "Problems of the development of Russian statehood in the XIX - early XX centuries."
