Biography
Born May 7, 1950 in Saratov. In 1974 he graduated from the Saratov Polytechnic Institute with a degree in engineering [1] .
The passion for photography Zemlyanichenko came back in school years, and during his student days he had already begun to cooperate with various publications on a professional level: first, The Dawn of Youth (Saratov) [1] .
In the 1980s, he moved to Moscow , where he worked as a photojournalist for Rovesnik magazine , then in the staff of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. The photographer also collaborated with the magazine "Soviet Union" magazine "Homeland" [1] .
He has been filming for the Associated Press since 1990 . From the beginning of the 1990s - head of the photo service (chief photographer) of the Moscow bureau of this agency. Being in a management position, he continues to actively make photo stories.

Awards and prizes
- Honored Journalist of the Russian Federation ( December 27, 2018 ) - for merits in the development of national journalism and many years of fruitful work [2] .
- Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1992 (for a report on the 1991 Moscow putsch , together with Boris Yurchenko ) and 1997 (for photos of Russian President Boris Yeltsin dancing at a rock concert in honor of his election campaign [3] ).
- World Press Photo laureate in 1992 ( for a photo of Boris Yeltsin during the 1996 presidential campaign ).
