Biography
Edith Gertrud Meta Raschke was born in the Neukölln district of Berlin and since childhood dreamed of becoming an actress and dancer. In 1935, she made her acting debut on the theater stage of Leipzig under the direction of Douglas Sirk , and a year later she made her film debut.
After the release of the circus drama "Trucks" in 1937, Rahl became known to a wide audience. Over the years of her career, she appeared in more than 90 films, many of which were shot at the famous UFA film studio. In the later years of her life, she worked on television, and also played in the theater.
The last years of her life, the actress spent in a nursing home in Munich , almost blind and demented . There she died in August 2009 at the age of 94.
