Biography
The Early Years and Greuther
Eigler until 1993 worked in the children's football club Unterreichenbach from the city of the same name , where Christian grew up. Then he moved to the football school of the Nuremberg club, where he played from 1993 to 1999. Then, for personal reasons, he spent six months without football and returned to Unterreichenbach [2] . There he continued to play until 2002, when he changed his team and became a Greuther player from Fuerth .
After spending six months in the youth team of Greuther, in the second half of the 2002/03 season, Eigler received a chance from his coach Eugen Hach to prove himself in the first team. Christian made his professional debut on April 6, 2003 in the second Bundesliga match against the Rot-Weiss club. Until the end of the season, he took part in six games and scored three goals [3] .
In 2003-2005, after the change of head coach at Greuther, Eigler again had to prove his right to play for the main club staff. He regularly appeared on the field, most often leaving for replacements, but did not have a stable place in the squad, sometimes he played for the backup squad in the Bavarian Oberlig . In the 2004/05 season, Eigler performed well in a double, scoring 12 goals in 11 games. In the 2005/06 season, Christian became a full-fledged player in the main team of Greuther and showed high performance in the second Bundesliga, scoring 18 goals and becoming the top scorer in the league [4] .
In May 2006, Eigler unexpectedly fell into the application of the German youth team for the European Championship in Portugal. He was preparing for the ceremony to end the season at the club, when he received a call with a call to the national team, where Christian was to replace the injured Peter Trochowski [1] . Eigler took part in only one match of the tournament, May 23 appeared on the field in a meeting with the national team of Serbia and Montenegro [5] .
Arminia, Nuremberg, and Ingolstadt
In June 2006, Eigler joined Arminia from Bielefeld , which performed in the Bundesliga . The terms of the deal for the player’s transfer were not disclosed, but according to experts, an amount of about a million euros was paid for Christian [6] . The player’s contract with the club was designed for three years [7] . In the Bundesliga, Eigler made his debut on August 12, 2006 in the first round match of the 2006/07 season against Hamburg , and in the first match for the new club he scored a goal [4] . In total, Christian spent 27 matches in his first season at Arminia and scored 6 goals. He started the 2007/08 season at a very high level, scoring three goals and five assists in the first five games, but then his performance dropped significantly. Eigler finished the second season in the Bundesliga with six goals and three assists in 29 matches [8] .
In July 2008, after two years at Arminia, Aigler moved to Nuremberg , which flew into the second Bundesliga, but hoped to compete for the return to German football elite. The transfer amount was approximately 1.3 million euros. Immediately upon arrival at the new club, Christian highly praised his training base, which, in his opinion, was better than in his previous teams [9] . In the 2008/09 season, Eigler played an important role in the successful Nuremberg exit in the Bundesliga, scoring 8 goals and giving 8 assists in 32 matches. He also scored two goals in butt games with the Energy club. A year later, “Nuremberg” nearly flew out of the Bundesliga again, but Eigler again helped the team scored a goal in butt games with “ Augsburg ”. In total, over four years at Nuremberg Christian played 124 matches and scored 23 goals in the championship and the German Cup [10] . The 2011/12 season , which was the last in the Bundesliga for Eigler, was marked by several serious injuries, the footballer needed an operation on his inguinal muscles. Without waiting for the season to end, Eigler said that in the summer of 2012 he would leave Nuremberg and would look for a new team [11] .
On June 30, 2012, Eigler in the status of a free agent transferred to the second Bundesliga club “ Ingolstadt 04 ”, in which he signed a three-year contract. Team coach Thomas Oral called the rookie an excellent striker, for many years showing his high level in the first and second divisions [12] . In the new club, Eigler was able to spend only one full season, in which he played 27 matches and scored 6 goals, sometimes brought the team to the field in captain status, but already in the middle of the second season he seriously injured his knee. The injury required an operation, after which Christian several times briefly returned to the field [13] . He played his last match on April 11, 2014 against Paderborn , after spending just five minutes in the game. In the summer of 2014, Iigler underwent another operation [14] , but the injury was not healed. In the 2014/15 season, a football player has never entered the field.
