Fluorexone ( Calcein ) is a fluorescent dye with absorption and radiation at 495 / 515nm, respectively. It is used as a complexometric indicator for calcium , including in the presence of magnesium, and in the fluorometric determination of calcium. Used at pH > 12, in NaOH .

Possible applications for the determination of strontium and barium. Copper, zinc, magnesium and aluminum are determined at a pH of 10.0-12.5.
