Phenomenological psychology

Phenomenological psychology is a direction of psychology based on the ideas and methods of phenomenology and the aim of a descriptive study of consciousness, subjectivity and human experiences.

The philosophical foundations of phenomenological psychology are the ideas of E. Husserl , as well as his students and followers: A. Pfender, M. Geiger, J.-P. Sartre, M. Merlot-Ponti, A. Schütz et al. [1]

L. Binswanger, K. Jaspers , E. Minkowski , E. Straus , A. Kronfeld, V. von Gebsattel, G. Ellenberger, R. May , R. Laing , and I resorted to the ideas, principles, and methods of phenomenology in psychology and psychiatry. H. Van den Berg, F. Perls , C. Rogers , J. Buigental , F. Bazaglia and others. Among modern authors developing this direction abroad, one can distinguish A. Georgie (USA), J. Gendlin (USA) , A. Langle (Austria), E. Spinelli (Great Britain) [2] .

Phenomenological psychology is often considered in connection, and sometimes as an integral part of other areas: existential psychology (hence the common name "existential-phenomenological psychology") and humanistic psychology .
