History
The history of the village Khomutovskoy dates back to the middle of the XIX century . During these years, on the lands of Staroserkasskaya stanitsa on the Mokry Bataille ravine, the settlement was founded in 1842 and became known as the Mokrobataisky farm. In 1873 the farm was renamed the village of Khomutovskaya. The development of the village proceeded due to the presence of a post road nearby, which passed along the land of the Don Army Field from the Aksai crossing to the Caucasus. The difficulties of promoting mail and passing from the military to travelers led to the decision to build a roadside tract farms and villages.
According to the Highest command of the Emperor of October 13, 1838, it was decided from the village of Esaulovskaya to resettle the peasants of Colonel Savostyanova to the Zadonsky tract with their enrollment in the Cossack estate of the Don Cossacks. According to the list of resettled peasants compiled in April 1839, the Second Don District District Investigation Authority included 101 men and 90 women.
However, people refused to settle at the chosen place for settlement because it did not have unnatural non temporary water sources. To solve this problem, the immigrants asked proxies of Starocherkassk stanitsa to find a more convenient place. The troop board instructed the head of Cherkassy district with the trusted Starocherkassk stanitsa to go to the place chosen for settlement in Mokra Bata to inspect it and if it really turns out to be inconvenient for the settlement to find a new convenient place. The Commission, created on April 30, 1842, reported that the first place located two versts from the post road can be occupied by a settlement.
In the list of settlements of the Russian Empire in 1859, the Cossack farm Wet Bataille was listed with the “Wet Bataille” beam of the Starocherkassk stanitsa of the land of the Don Cossacks . At this time in the village there were 148 men and 152 women living in 57 yards. The village also had an Orthodox prayer house, a post station.
In 1858 a church was built in the farm. The church was odnoprestolny, consecrated in the name of the Kazan Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos. The church building was wooden, with the same bell tower, covered with iron.
