Fairbanks International Airport serves mainly cargo airlines that use the airport for additional refueling when performing long-distance transpolar flights. The service of regular passenger flights is represented by the airport in limited quantities. Era Aviation and Alaska Airlines operate at Fairbanks International Airport all year round, and the main carrier Northwest Airlines opens regular flights only during the summer season.
Fairbanks is the smallest city in the United States connected by non-stop air routes to Europe : during the summer tourist season, Condor Airlines launches a weekly transpolar flight from Fairbanks to Frankfurt .
Currently, work is underway on the reconstruction and expansion of the building of the passenger terminal of the airport, associated with the constant increase in passenger traffic through Fairbanks International Airport . Upon completion, a new terminal building will be put into operation and an additional telescopic gangway will be commissioned, the total number of telescopes will reach six units.
