The Kaluga diocese is the diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in the urban districts of Kaluga and Obninsk , as well as Borovsky , Zhukovsky , Maloyaroslavetsky , Ferzikovsky , Tarussky , Dzerzhinsky , Medynsky , Przemyslsky , Babyninsky , Meshchovsky districts of the Kaluga region [1] .

The diocesan bishop has cathedral churches in two cities: Kaluga ( Trinity Cathedral - from August 24, 1999 ) and Borovsk ( Annunciation Cathedral ).
Since 1990, the ruling bishop is Clement (Kapalin) , Metropolitan (from February 25, 2004 ) of Kaluga and Borovsky.

History
Established on October 16, 1799 ; previously, the territory was mainly part of the Krutitsky diocese .
The number of active parishes at the beginning of 2010 is 186; eight monasteries, of which two have the status of stavropegial (administratively do not belong to the diocese): Optina deserts and Kazan Amvrosievsky deserts , and two monasteries.
On October 2, 2013, independent Kozelsky and Pesochensky dioceses were allocated from the Kaluga diocese, all three dioceses became part of the newly formed Kaluga Metropolis. The parishes of Duminichsky , Zhizdrinsky , Kozelsky , Lyudinovsky , Sukhinichsky , Ulyanovsky , Khvastovichsky , Baryatinsky and Yukhnovsky districts were removed from the Kaluga diocese.
By order of the Metropolitan of Kaluga and Borovsky Dioceses on November 12, 2013, No. 178 , deanery districts were formed on the territory of the diocese and the deaneries were appointed:
- 8th arrondissement (Medynsk deanery): Medynsky district . Deanery - Priest Alexander Zemtsov;
- District 9 (Peremyshlsky deanery): Peremyshlsky district . Deanery - Priest Dionisy Dobrov;
- 10th district (Babyninsky deanery): Babyninsky and Meshchovsky districts . Deanery - Archpriest Sergiy Yanin.
