Album History

Something to Remember is a collection of Madonna's most famous ballads, which also includes three new recordings. Apparently, the release of the album was strategically justified and designed to soften the role of Madonna in the film Evita .

The name of the album is also the name of the song “Something to Remember” , which in 1990 was included at number 9 in the album “ I'm Breathless ” (soundtrack for the movie “ Dick Tracy ”). The Japanese version of the album includes the bonus track “La Isla Bonita” , the version for South America and Spain includes the track “Verás” , the Spanish version of the song “You'll See” .

Madonna is again collaborating with producer Nellye Hooper on the song “I Want You,” in collaboration with Bristol's electronic music group Massive Attack . This song is a cover of Marvin Gay’s song, first included in Gay ’s gift collection “Inner City Blues: The Music of Marvin Gaye” . Hooper has already collaborated with Madonna on the studio album Bedtime Stories ( Russian. Stories for the night ) in 1994 . Two other compositions, “ You'll See ” and “ One More Chance ” , were written and released by Madonna and David Foster .

The author of the photo on the cover of the album is Mario Testino , the first time this photo was used for the advertising campaign of Madonna and Versace in 1995 . The back cover of the first edition of the album contained a photo of a golden magnolia , and the insert was a photo of a magnolia in red colors. In 1996 , the second edition of the album was released with a photograph of Madonna lying on the bed with which they shot at Versace. The original liner with a photo of magnolia has not been changed; On a vinyl envelope, a photo of red magnolia was used on the back.

The album was released at the time Madonna broke up with Sire Records , which has been her record label since 1982 . Album versions sold in Europe contained information about Sire Records as the copyright holder, while in versions of the album for North America (as well as in subsequent releases of the album) Warner Bros. Records .
