Vera Vladimir Altai ( May 21, 1919 , Petrograd - December 28, 1978 , Moscow ) is a Soviet theater and film actress, who became popular thanks to her magnificent sharp-character roles in children's fairy tales and comedies.

Biography
Vera Vladimirovna Altai was born in Petrograd . Her adoptive father was the writer Konstantin Nikolaevich Altai-Korolev . In the late 1930s , she moved to Moscow , where in 1940 she graduated from the acting school at the Mosfilm film studio, after which she worked at the Theater-Studio of the film actor . She made her debut on the movie screens in 1939 , and played her first major role in the movie "Mashenka" in 1942 .
Altai was awarded the medal " For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War ".
The actress gained popularity in negative roles in children's fairy tales and comedies - Nina Pavlovna, the bride of Petukhov (“ The Bridegroom from the Other World ”, 1958), Bad Aunt (“ Mary the Artisan ”, 1959), Anna Shkapidar (“ Evdokia ”, 1961), Asyrk (“ Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors ”, 1963), The Old Woman (“ Morozko ”, 1964), the Old Lady, the merry-go-round (“ Barbara Beauty, the long braid ”, 1969), the Cookess (“ Golden Horns ”, 1972), etc.

Death
The last years of his life were seriously ill. Vera Altai died on December 28, 1978 and was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery near her parents.
