Savitsky, Vladimir Dmitrievich ( February 16, 1922 , Simferopol - March 7, 2009 , St. Petersburg ) - Russian writer, translator and critic, teacher. Candidate of Philology. Member of the Writers' Union of St. Petersburg since 1964. Member of the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star, Order of the Patriotic War, II degree and medals.

Biography

In 1939 he entered the philological faculty of the Leningrad State University. After the war he graduated (1950) and graduate school (1954). He lived in Leningrad since 1928. Engaged in teaching; in 1957-72 - Literary consultant of the Leningrad Writing Organization. Author of several articles, reviews, prefaces, notes on the work of Czech and Slovak writers, on Russian literature in the Czech Republic (Gogol, Chekhov, Sholokhov), on Russian, Czech and Slovak dramaturgy and theater. Translated from the Czech and Slovak languages ​​of the plays by P. Kohout, P. Karvash , A. Irasek, brothers A. and V. Mrstik , I. Stodoli, I. Golla and others, E. Bass's novel Circus Umberto (co-authored with I. Ivanov; Leningrad, 1974), the stories of J. Hasek, K. Svetla, P. Karvash. He is the author of a critical biographical essay on the Slovak writer P. Ilemnitzky . Translated the memoirs of Stanislav Poniatowski (M., 1995), the book by Estonian pastor Harri Haamer “Our Life is in Heaven” (with M. Shtokalenko; St. Petersburg, 2000), compiler of the collection of plays by Pavel Kogout “Such Love” (co-authored with M. Malevich, St. Petersburg, 2007).

After 1968 he turned to original works (prose, essay, criticism, drama). Author of books:
