Orson Welles' filmography includes 11 full-length feature films and 2 documentary films, in the production of which Wells directed, and he played at least one role in each of his artistic films. Only 4 of 13 films by Orson Welles came out in a single, directing, editing edition: “ Citizen Kane ”, “Midnight Bells” (“Falstaff”) , “ F as Fake ” and How was filmed “Othello” . The rest, for various reasons, exist in different versions.

The premiere of the first version took place in May 1952 at the Cannes Film Festival. The second version was released in the USA in September 1955. Original versions of both editing editions can be found in archives and private collections. The only publicly available version of the film is the “restoration” of the second version, where the sound track has been significantly changed. [four]
