Petroglyphs at the Newspaper Rock State Monument, Southern Utah, USA

Newspaper Rock State Historic Site , literally "Newspaper Stone," The Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument is located approximately 40 km northwest of the city of Monticello and west of the city of Moab in the southeastern part of Utah in the western United States . The attraction of the monument is a flat rocky cliff, where a large collection of petroglyphs is discovered . [one]

Petroglyphs were carved by the Indians both in the prehistoric period and after contact with Europeans (the latter can be judged, for example, by the fact that some signs depict horsemen). Although the exact dating of the monument is difficult, it is possible to establish relative dating by patina. The reason for such a high concentration of petroglyphs in a small area remains unclear.
