Biblical Information

According to the Bible , Jeroboam was a pagan without refusing to serve the golden calves, and led successful wars with Syria , Moabites , Ammonites , took Damascus and Hamath, and restored the ancient limits of his kingdom to the Euphrates and the Dead Sea . The biblical chronicler believes that Lord Yahweh helped him because he did not want to betray the descendants of Israel to perish.

The kingdom of Israel reached its height during the reign of Jeroboam. The modern-day prophets Hosea and Amos spoke out loudly against ungodliness and lawlessness, which flourished under calm domestic political conditions. Through Amos, God announced the coming destruction of the house of Jeroboam and the fall of the kingdom of Israel ( Amos. 7: 9-11 ). The reign of Jeroboam II lasted 41 years. After him, his son, Zechariah , reigned for only 6 months, came to the throne, and soon after him the kingdom of Israel was destroyed by Salmanasar V and his successor Sargon II , the Assyrian kings .

Archaeological evidence
