Gao-di ( Chinese 高帝 , 427 - 482 ) - the Chinese emperor of the period of the Southern and Northern Dynasties , the founder of the new southern dynasty South Qi (南 齊), which replaced the Liu Song dynasty . He took the throne in 479 and ruled for three years. Personal name Xiao Daocheng ( Chinese 蕭道成 , pseudonym Xiaobo (紹伯), nickname Doujiang (鬥 將); came from the Xiao clan, was a distant relative of Xiao Yan, the future emperor of the U-Di Liang Dynasty .

Xiao Daocheng was a general under the emperor Ming-di (South Song) . When Emperor Houfei , known for his cruelty, fearing for his life, came to power, he killed the emperor in 477 and began to rule the country, elevating himself to the throne after some time.
Known as an intelligent and humble emperor, he fought with luxury and waste and moderation.
At this time, North Wei State was about to restore the Liu Song dynasty. Emperor Gao-di took action, strengthened the borders and important area of Shouyang, built a wall around the capital of Jiankang (the modern part of Nanjing ). Small clashes occurred, but a serious war was avoided.
He died in the spring of 482 years.
